Talking about Fanaticism...

"Fanaticism" is a significant word to me. For one, i spoke about it during my youth days in a Church Camp. Did my research and link the word to the areas of life that i wanted to address... For a start, Fanaticism is equated as 'excessive enthusiasm, unreasoning zeal, or wild and extravagant notions, on any subject, especially religion; religious frenzy' based on Dictionary.com. So... how would you interpret fanaticism?!
My personal feel is that, fanaticism is fine to a certain degree with the right objective - meaning that we need to have enthusiasm in life coupled with the zeal to make things happen but not beyond the point of being unreasonable or irrelevant. Perhaps i'm speaking from the perspective of my own personality where life without the significant ups & downs doesn't add up to living a fulfilled life. However, this may be the total opposite of the other 'species' of people that i know. Thus, putting things in perspective, a certain degree of fanaticism would be fantastic to put FLAVOR, COLOR & VARIETY into our lives especially these days when people seem to be colder, more individualistic and couldn't be too bothered by people and things out of their 'own little world' which they live in... no thanks to the word 'globalisation' where everyone needs to compete and go one better to get ahead let alone survive in the world around us. Revolutionary stuffs such as Blackberry, iPod, Netbooks, Smartphones and the Internet with Facebook, Twitter and PC Games has infiltrated the lives of so many to a point that we don't have a life anymore where people & things around us are more REAL & RELATIONAL!
These revolutionary stuffs have subtly locked us into our own little world where many have lost touch with what the real life and the people that matters most to us is all about. Let me illustrate briefly: Blackberry = Immediate email response = No time for proper breaks, iPod = Self enjoyment of music = Oblivious to people and happenings around, Netbooks = Sitting in cafes looking cool and surfing the net = No clue to the real life except the cyberworld, Facebook = Catching up with friends & playing games = Time passing by without knowing, PC Games = Addiction to the action & competing with people = Reality could be in the gaming world, and the list goesss on. (Any resemblance is purely coincidental based on observation and personal experience).
My 2 cents worth here....... Have a good balance between being passionate & having self control. Life should be maximised as our Creator, Jesus Christ would like us to live life to the fullest while we need to stay relevant to the people around us to make the right impact in having a fulfilling life. So, do reflect on life and be balanced in all we do so our life will be a blessing indeed to everyone around us because our lives MATTER to many especially our loved ones - so cherish & treasure all that we have & don't take it for granted, ya?!

Passion & Pride?!

The only thing in common for this posting from my last is... it's a Wednesday! And it's almost 2 months later too... What started off as a revival of blogging has almost turned out to be another 'good try' until the next "We're Back" declaration just to keep the motion of blogging going without any real consistency in keeping tabs with the happenings in my life & those around me...
One of the reasons why i'm blogging today is because i woke up hoping to hear the good news of my soccer team causing an upset in an important game but not expecting a big surprise, we lost the game. Instead of being too disheartened and trying to console myself that it's not all that gloomy coupled with me not being able to wake up at 3am to watch the game, i was able to be very objective in catching up on the after match comments. Honestly, soccer fans like me who can get overly obsessed or emotional with our favourite soccer teams can have our day or moment ruined by seeing our team lose matches or caught up in some debates with fans of other soccer teams. Such is the passion we have which can be a 'bad thing' when not blended with proper self control. After all, my wife and those around me that doesn't share the same passion will query me on whether it's worthwhile getting all worked up for a soccer team who may not even know my existence or the significance of the impact of 11 players on the field can do to me.
So, i'm gonna make a new milestone today that i'm gonna be supporting my favourite soccer team with the right ingredient of passion & pride while not being too fanatic about it!
